I went on a blues exploration trip a few years ago thru Helana Arkansas and Clarkdale Missisippi. I was staying at this place near the fabled crossroads in a old slave cabin that they converted into a motel. This song woke me up in the middle of the night. It was like there was this big party playing in my head.
lyrics
Why must I wake up and sleep off all my day
Well I guess I just missed a big party
One glass of wine should provide a good time
But I went and I finished the whole bottle
Well I might not be the original originator
Of somethin I aint thought of
That I think that I thought at the time
Well I'm smooth talkin, slow walkin, sweet potato see ya later
And honey I sure love you
But my phone was not working at the time
Well I spent some time down at the old four corners
With the tv screamin bout the T storm warnins
Shackin up in the old slave quarters with a honey bee
Big ol roots of the trees are showin
And it's high noon here and the sun is glowin
This Delta heat is sure kickin my ass
It's kickin my ass
Well I guess I'll keep tryin till I get it right
But I think that I misplaced the instructions
Oh what the hell
Let's go down to the bar room
And we'll help out my friend with his problem
Well I might not be the original originator
Of somethin I aint thought of
That I think that I thought at the time
Well I'm smooth talkin, slow walkin, sweet potato see ya later
And honey I sure love you
But my phone was not working at the time
But my phone was not working at the time
